New details about Matthew Perry‘s final days have come to light following the arrest of his personal live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa in connection with the actor’s death.
In court documents filed Thursday, investigators learned it was Iwamasa who injected Perry with the final fatal dose of ketamine. He plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing a death.
While a total of five people were charged in connection with Perry’s death, it was his personal assistant’s plea agreement that revealed the most detail about the actor’s final days.
According to the court documents, in the month leading up to Perry’s death Iwamasa, who had no medical training, injected the Friends star with “significant quantities of ketamine.”
On October 12, 2023, two weeks before Perry’s death, Dr. Salvador Plasencia administered “a large dose of ketamine” which consequently triggered an “adverse medical reaction.” It caused Perry to “freeze up,” and he was unable to move or speak.
Plasencia reportedly told Iwamasa, “let’s not do that again.”
Approximately two weeks later between October 24 and October 27, 2023, Perry received “approximately 6-8 shots per day” from Iwamasa.
Perry’s assistant admitted to investigators that during the month of October Perry had been found “unconscious at his residence on at least two occasions.”
On October 28, Iwamasa injected Perry with a shot of ketamine around 8:30 a.m. and then again around 12:45 p.m.
“Approximately 40 minutes later, Victim M.P. asked defendant to prepare the jacuzzi for Victim M.P. and told defendant, ‘shoot me up with a big one,’ referring to another shot of ketamine,” the court document said.
Following the third injection, Iwamasa left Perry’s residence to do errands without the actor. He returned several hours later and found the actor face down in the jacuzzi.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call at Perry’s residence at approximately 4:07 p.m. and found “an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone jacuzzi.” Perry was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m.
It is so painfully sad what happened to Matthew Perry. I hope everyone involved in his death is brought to justice.
