Released on Wednesday (Aug. 28), this cinematic clip plays out like an Old Western film and features both Langley and Green as the main characters. The opening sequence finds Green, a wanted man, on horseback moseying up to a saloon that features Langley, a can-can dancer, as the afternoon’s barroom entertainment.

Upon entering the old town establishment and scoping everything out, Green, captivated by Langley’s voice, leans up to the bar, and settles into a drink. Not long after, Langley, who is gussied up in a red and black outfit complete with a petticoat, corset, boots and feathered hat, is seen locking eyes with Green before the two meet in the center of the room for a romantically-charged dance.

The eye-catching clip, which also includes a surprise cameo from Jamey Johnson (and another from Green’s real-life dog, Carl), takes a twist when one hawk-eyed patron notices the wanted sign by the door matches Green’s description. The man abandons his card game and hightails it to Johnson – the town’s sheriff. Tension is high, and guns are quickly drawn between Green and Johnson. But Langley’s charm is just enough to keep Green off the hook, as the two eventually ride off together into the sunset.

Video Of The Year-Worthy Music Video

“you look like you love me” was co-written by Langley and Green with Aaron Raitiere, and Langley’s credentials have grown even stronger as she also had a hand in co-writing and co-directing the video for the track. The 25-year-old Alabama native worked alongside Wales Toney and JP Park to bring the storytelling lyrics to life.

As with the Video of the Year-worthy clip, the track, released earlier this year, shines a light on both artists, with each of them taking a full verse, highlighting their own perceptions in the storyline.

I was all but 22 / I think at the time / I’d been out on the road / Lonely at night / And it’d been a while / So it was on my mind,” Langley talk/sings, setting the scene. “Well, I saw him walk in / With his cowboy hat / And I thought to myself / I could use some of that / His boots like glass on a sawdust floor / Had moves like nothin‘ I’d ever seen before….”

In the second verse, fellow Alabama native Green talk/sings: “Well, I was down at the local beer joint with a few of the guys / When this cute little country girl caught my eye / And boy, let me tell you / She was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen in a pair of boots / Well, she walked right up to me, handed me a beer / Gave me a look like, let’s get outta here / And that’s when I realized that she was every cowboy’s dream come true…”

Langley Said Green Was The “Perfect” Duet Partner

Ella Langley recently opened up about having Riley Green on “you look like you love me” during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“I think Riley’s the perfect person because we both grew up on the same kind of music,” Langley said. “When I think of talking in the song, I think of ‘You Never Even Call Me By My Name’,” where they’re talking in the back half of that song… And then, you know, bringing some Alabama out to shine in the world.”

She continues, “Seeming as I wrote this song as a joke, thinking it would never go anywhere, I would say the success is pretty nuts. It’s definitely changing my life, and it’s exciting.”

“you look like you love me,” included on Langley’s acclaimed debut album, hungover, has been the singer/songwriter’s most streamed song to date with 112 million streams and counting. The track has also become Langley and Green’s highest debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, and reached the Top 15 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, as well as the No. 5 spot on Billboard’s TikTok Top 50 chart. Since hearing the tune, fans have been including the hooky chorus in their posts on social media, reaching nearly the 1 million mark thus far.

The music video for “you look like you love me” comes as Langley continues her run on her North American headlining tour, the hungover tour, which already has a handful of sold-out dates. The trek, presented by Happenstance Whiskey, currently runs through Nov. 8.
